The Autism Post-Secondary Peer Group is for students with an autism diagnosis, attending a post-secondary institution in the Halifax area. Students that attend will meet in a group, once a week throughout the semester, and will explore and discuss topics that support them in their university careers, as well as provide a place to explore the challenges and opportunities that come with transitioning from university into the job market. The topics that will be covered at the meetings will be arrived at by students and their peers. Topics may include but are not limited to: study habits and anxiety management; handling exams and other deadlines; communication skills inside and outside of school; mindfulness; support for entrepreneurship; understanding and managing sensory interests and aversions; how and when to best disclose in the job market.
