What is Sexuality Education 

A sexuality educator provides education and training to individuals on sexuality topics in a wide range of settings to people across the lifespan. Sexuality educators develop curriculum, workshops, seminars, deliver programs, and provide individualized educational services to individuals.

Meet our Sexuality Education Team: 

Holly MacLellan 
Sexuality Educator | HRSA & Women’s Project Coordinator 

Holly is passionate about increasing access to sex-positive, comprehensive sexuality education. She operates from a feminist, anti-oppressive and trauma-informed lens, and strives to create environments that are safer, inclusive, and accessible that promote the rights and dignity of all people. She takes a person-directed approach in supporting Autistic people by encouraging self-determination, personal agency, autonomy, and meaningful social connections. 

At the Pinwheel Wellness Centre, Holly facilitates sexuality education programming and sexuality education curriculum development for Autistic adults/individuals on the autism spectrum.

Yevonne Le Lacheur, MEd, RCT-C, CCC, CSE, CS

Director of Community Inclusion
Yevonne is a Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate in the province of Nova Scotia, Certified Sexologist & Certified Sexuality Educator internationally. Yevonne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Bachelor of Education, Master of Education in Autism & Mental Health, Post Graduate Certificate in Sexual Health & Sexuality Education and Master of Education in Counselling Therapy.

Yevonne has 15 years of experience working with Autistic adults/individuals on the autism spectrum in community, home, and school settings. Yevonne works from an integrative lens including person directed, feminist, critical disability studies, narrative, social justice and trauma informed approaches to support agency and autonomy.

At the Pinwheel Wellness Centre, Yevonne is the director of the Centre and the team. Additionally, Yevonne provides both individual and group counselling for Autistic adults/adults with autism who are experiencing anxiety, difficulties with relationships and sexuality from an integrative approach and a variety of counselling modalities.​

Our Current Sexuality Education Programs:  

Healthy Relationships, Sexuality & Autism - Adult (HRSA) Program 
The Healthy Relationships, Sexuality & Autism (HRSA) program is a comprehensive sexuality education program designed for Autistic adults/individuals on the autism spectrum. The program supports Autistic adults/individuals on the autism spectrum (19 years and up) by introducing concepts of sexuality and social skills through interactive, sex-positive, inclusive sexuality education lessons. 

This interactive program meets once a week for two-hour long sessions for 16 weeks. 6-8 participants will be supported by Autism Nova Scotia’s Sexuality Educator throughout the 16 weeks of the program. The program is free to join.
